Verizon announced that it will be discontinuing support for 3G devices on 12/31/2019. In a message to customers, Verizon states, “On December 31, 2019, Verizon plans to retire its CDMA network (1x/EVDO, 2G/3G).” In preparation for the discontinuation of 3G, they will no longer permit any 3G activations after 6/30/2018. The same message states, “we will stop activating new devices on CDMA after June 30, 2018.”
